Fausto Gilberti. Laboratory!: NEWS | SOLO SHOW | Gallaria Sonne
WIZARD GALLERY is pleased to share Laboratory!, an exhibition bringing together works by Fausto Gilberti and the young artists of the Silvaplana School, curated by Marta Gay.
The exhibition presents a selection of works created by students who participated in a series of workshops led by Fausto Gilberti at the Silvaplana municipal school. Inspired by the artist’s illustrated books and distinctive visual language, the children’s drawings are presented alongside a selection of Gilberti’s original works, creating a dialogue between artistic practice, education, and imagination.
Known for his refined black-and-white drawings populated by stylized figures with expressive eyes, Fausto Gilberti has developed a unique visual language that combines irony, poetry, and humanity. His work moves effortlessly between contemporary art and illustration, inviting audiences of all ages to engage with themes drawn from everyday life, art history, and culture.
Alongside his exhibition practice, Gilberti has established himself as one of Italy’s leading authors and illustrators of children’s books. Over the past fifteen years he has published numerous acclaimed titles dedicated to major figures in modern and contemporary art, including Lucio Fontana, Marcel Duchamp, Yves Klein, Piero Manzoni, Yayoi Kusama, Louise Bourgeois, Jackson Pollock, Marina Abramović, and Banksy.
Since the late 1990s, Gilberti has participated in more than one hundred exhibitions in Italy and internationally, with presentations at institutions including the Moka Hyundai Museum in Seoul, the Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm, the Elgiz Museum in Istanbul, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Valencia, and the Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato.
By placing the children’s works alongside the artist’s own, Laboratory! celebrates creativity as a shared process of learning, observation, and experimentation, highlighting the role of art as a tool for dialogue across generations.
