Galleria San Fedele presents placeasprocessofdoubtandfaith, a solo exhibition by American artist Franklin Evans, curated by Andrea Dall’Asta SJ in collaboration with WIZARD GALLERY.
Conceived as an immersive, site-specific installation, the exhibition transforms the gallery into an environment of layered images, colours and visual references. Through a practice characterised by accumulation, overlapping imagery and continuous transformation, Evans explores the relationship between painting, space and perception, inviting visitors to move through a complex visual landscape where different narratives and temporalities coexist.
At the centre of the exhibition is a dialogue with Albrecht Dürer’s Salvator Mundi, opening a reflection on the power of images and their relationship to knowledge, spirituality and belief. Through this encounter between historical and contemporary artistic languages, Evans investigates the boundaries between vision and memory, knowledge and mystery, doubt and faith.
The exhibition reflects the artist’s ongoing interest in painting as an evolving process rather than a fixed image. His installations bring together multiple visual fragments and references, creating environments in which the viewer becomes an active participant in the construction of meaning.
placeasprocessofdoubtandfaith invites visitors to reconsider how images shape our understanding of the world, offering an experience that embraces uncertainty, interpretation and discovery rather than definitive answers.
The exhibition opens on 3 November 2026 at 6:30 PM, in the presence of Franklin Evans.
