Eliel David Martínez Julián . Winner of the Premio Paolo Rigamonti 2026: NEWS
We are pleased to announce that Eliel David Martínez Julián has been awarded the Premio Paolo Rigamonti, as part of the Premio ArtiVisive San Fedele 2026, dedicated this year to the theme Il volto della violenza (The Face of Violence).
Martínez Julián received the award for Second Chances (2026), a multimedia installation developed from a personal experience of violence. Bringing together a life-size self-portrait, documents, and a letter addressed to those responsible for the assault, the work reflects on the possibility of interrupting the cycle of violence through an unexpected gesture of encounter and sharing.
In the letter, the artist invites his aggressors to cook together and then share the food with people in need, transforming an experience of violence into the possibility of a collective act of care. Rather than responding to violence with further violence, Second Chances opens a space for encounter, responsibility, and transformation.
Born in Oaxaca, Mexico, in 1998, Martínez Julián moved to Italy at the age of 18 and continued his artistic education at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia.
