On the occasion of The Phair 2024, WIZARD GALLERY is pleased to present a group exhibition showcasing the works of artists Gianni Pettena (Italy, 1940), Bruna Esposito (Italy, 1960), and Igor Eskinja (Croatia, 1975).

The photographs by Gianni Pettena, taken between 1971 and 1973 and collected in the catalogue “Mr Pettena Rambling Around the USA” curated by Luca Cerizza, document the architect's evocative journey through the United States of the seventies. They express Pettena's deep affinity for vast natural landscapes and anonymous, informal architecture, offering a captivating glimpse into his experience and perspective of the world.

Bruna Esposito's images from the series "davvero" (2016) transport us into a surreal and ironic universe, where fish and bamboo brooms intertwine in an enigmatic and mutable scenario, prompting us to reflect on the complexity of reality and our perception of it. One of the photographs from this series has been included in the permanent collection of the MAXXI Museum in Rome.

In his 2011 work “Constellation,” Igor Eskinja depicts the common object of a barrier pole, which is familiar to us from airports, stations, exhibitions, or mass events. Used to organize people's movement through space and serve as a fence, poles in this work become structures of some distant, undefined space. By simple intervention, the black belt is fragmented and transformed into an image of the universe. In this way, the artist creates a connection between abstract and figurative, as well as between metaphor and sign.

The exhibition provides the public with the opportunity to immerse themselves in three distinct yet equally fascinating artistic universes, inviting us to explore the complexity and diversity of contemporary photography themes.
